China-UK Year of Cultural Exchange is in full swing

Chinese Portal The China-UK Year of Cultural Exchange has great significance. Themed on CREATIVE CHINA, the season aims to bring together the Chinese and British artists, art and cultural organization and creative business and organization together and build a bridge for more substantial and sustainable cooperation.

In the joint statement by Government of the People’s Republic of China and Government of the United Kingdom during the visit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to the UK in June 2014, the two countries agreed to set 2015 as China-UK Year of Cultural Exchange. The first half of the year is the UK Culture Season in China and the second half of the year is the China Culture Season in the UK.

The China Culture Season would be opened by a number of performances. From 20th to 25th of July, Richard III, presented by National Theatre of China, was put on the stage at the Shakespeare’s Globe.

In August, A-list Chinese artists and art companies, including pianists Lang Lang and Yujia Wang, Tao Dance Theater and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Band and Zhejiang Changxing Lotus Dragon Art Group will perform at Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Later on, China National Peking Opera Company and Yabin Dance Studio, Amazing China: 2015 Mobile Phone Photo Contest and China Pavilion in London Design Festival will be performing at Sadler’s Wells in London.
