Season of the Malignant has arrived, bringing a slew of exciting additions to the world of Diablo 4. Among the fresh content are new Unique items, Aspects, Malignant Tunnels, and Malignant Hearts, all of which have the potential to alter the gameplay experience. Blizzard has also woven captivating new storylines and questlines into the game, building upon the success of its predecessors.
As you venture into the new season, your first task will be to embark on the Season of the Malignant storyline, starting with the Burning from Within questline, which comprises several interconnected quests. This guide aims to help you navigate through this storyline swiftly and effortlessly.
Diablo 4 Guide: Mastering the Burning from Within Questline
The Burning from Within questline acquaints you with Malignant Hearts, a new feature introduced in Season of the Malignant. In this quest, you will encounter Cormon, whom you rescue from a peculiar demon. Cormon, grateful for your aid, will impart his knowledge about Malignant Hearts.
To access this quest, you must have completed the Eternal Realm campaign or be currently engaged in it on the Seasonal Realm with at least one character. Once adequately prepared, head to Kyovashad to meet Cormond and embark on your journey against Sanctuary’s latest threat.
Malignant Tunnels, a brand-new dungeon teeming with Malignant Monsters, were first introduced in Diablo 4 Season 1’s Forest Clearing section. To complete the initial quest, Burning from Within, conveniently located northwest of Kyovashad, you must venture into the Forest Clearing. As you continue your exploration in that direction, you will eventually stumble upon the entrance to this new dungeon.
Having accepted the mission and spoken to Vyrtan, the season quest commences. You had overheard a villager in Kyovashad speak fervently about corruption. Vyrtan informs you of a case involving someone transforming into a demon on the road outside the city, northwest of Kyovashad, en route to Menestad. Your new objective is to locate any survivors on this treacherous path.
Enter the Forest Clearing and eliminate the strange demon that crosses your path. You’ll notice a Malignant Heart dropping from the defeated foe. Cormond, an ex-priest, will request a meeting outside the forest to discuss matters related to the Malignant Heart.
Cormond then entrusts you with a bag of cages to use when dealing with corrupted living souls. Your task is complete once you return to Cormond with the cages containing the captured Malignant Hearts.
Upon finishing the Burning from Within quest, you will unlock the Plague of Hatred quest. Cormond will guide you through the usage of Invokers on Malignant Outgrowths found within Malignant Tunnels. You will also learn how to craft Invokers during this quest.
Burning from Within serves as the primary part of Season 1’s main storyline. To fully comprehend the workings of the new features and gear system in the game, it is crucial to complete this questline along with the subsequent quests.
Once you reach the Epilogue of Diablo 4, you will gain access to the main questline of the season. Any Seasonal Character can partake in the mechanics introduced in the new season, including Malignant Hearts and the Battle Pass.
