The Diablo 4 Elias Capstone Dungeon boss presents a formidable challenge, especially for those who aren’t fully prepared. In this guide, we will show you how to conquer Elias Hatred’s Remnant and unlock World Tier 4: Torment. Please be aware that there may be some story spoilers ahead.
Defeating Elias Hatred’s Remnant in the Forgotten Temple
The encounter with Elias Hatred’s Remnant takes place in the Forgotten Temple Capstone Dungeon. Once you have completed the necessary objectives, you will enter his sanctum. Although Elias is similar to the foe you faced during the campaign, this is a single encounter, and he will throw his most powerful attacks at you.
While it is recommended to be at Level 70 before facing Elias, you can still attempt the fight earlier. However, it will be more challenging, so it’s important to rely on defensive skills particular to your character class. Additionally, using an Iron Skin Elixir, if available, can grant you +900 armor for 30 minutes.
Elias Hatred’s Remnant Abilities
During the fight, Elias will utilize several potent abilities:
Cursed Fire:
- Creates a dark red outline in a frontal cone before unleashing a series of fiery eruptions.
- You can easily dodge the first one, but the second wave may hit you. Keep a potion at the ready to heal yourself.
Rain of Blood:
- Multiple red circles will appear on the ground, causing substantial damage.
- This ability has a quick casting time, and if you’re not careful, your character can die within seconds. To avoid damage, look for gaps between the circles, keep moving, or activate a defensive skill.
Rain of Poison:
- Similar to Rain of Blood, but with green circles instead.
- This ability is devastating, so swiftly move to the gaps or use a defensive skill to avoid taking damage.
Denizens of Hell:
Elias will summon various enemy mobs in a specific order:
- Fallen: Summoned after each Rain of Blood; they are weaker but numerous.
- Succubi: Summoned when Elias casts a spell in the middle of the arena; they can be problematic as they fly away and shoot projectiles. Watch out for their elemental projectiles that can deal significant damage. Keep track of Elias’ casting to prepare for his powerful abilities.
- Balrogs: Summoned when Elias creates dark lines that travel along the ground, resembling an occult symbol. Balrogs have deadly flame breath attacks that can quickly drain your HP. Eliminate them as soon as they appear to prevent them from causing harm during your battle with Elias.
As a Necromancer main, I defeated Elias in the Diablo 4 Elias Forgotten Temple Capstone Dungeon by utilizing my Undead Minions, Bone Spear, Corpse Tendrils, and Army of the Dead. My minions focused on the summoned mobs, allowing me to eliminate them with a well-aimed Bone Spear. I also relied on the Army of the Dead to revive my minions when needed. For defense, I relied on Blood Mist, which proved to be invaluable.
