Dark and Darker Fighter Guide: Master the Shadows

Welcome to our comprehensive guide for beginners on Dark and Darker Fighter. In this guide, we’ll explore all the essential aspects you need to know to embark on your adventure in the world of Dark and Darker. The Fighter class is a versatile melee class that excels in all forms of combat. With the right perks, the Fighter can wield any weapon in the game, making it a formidable force on the battlefield.

Pros and Cons

Before diving into the skills and strategies, let’s take a look at the pros and cons of playing as a Fighter:

Pros

  • Jack of all trades, versatile in various combat situations
  • Can equip most items, giving you flexibility in gear choices
  • Sprint skill allows for excellent mobility
  • Great for both solo and group play

Cons

  • Gear dependent, requiring specific equipment for optimal performance
  • While flexible, the Fighter has a slightly less defined identity compared to other classes

Skills

Skills are the core abilities unique to each class in Dark and Darker. Currently, the Fighter can select two skills from the following list to complement their preferred playstyle or build choice:

  • Victory Strike
  • Sprint
  • Adrenaline Rush
  • Breakthrough
  • Taunt
  • Second Wind
  • Perfect Block
  • Shield Slam

Victory Strike

Victory Strike is a buff-type skill that increases your next attack’s damage by 20%. If this skill kills an enemy, you also regain 5% of your health.

Sprint

Sprint is a fantastic movement skill that allows you to sprint for a duration, granting increased movement speed.

Adrenaline Rush

Adrenaline Rush provides a short burst of 25% speed and attack speed for 6 seconds. However, there is a movement speed penalty at the end of the duration.

Breakthrough

Breakthrough acts as a cleansing skill, enabling you to remove all movement speed debuffs.

Taunt

Taunt works similar to traditional RPG games, grabbing the attention of monsters and pulling their aggro towards you. This skill also improves your defense stats.

Second Wind

Second Wind is a health regeneration skill, providing a 50% health regen buff for approximately 12 seconds. Additionally, it can remove the Adrenaline Rush debuff.

Perfect Block

The Perfect Block skill allows you to completely block any attack with the right timing and precision.

Shield Slam

Using the Shield Slam skill inflicts 25 physical damage on the target and reduces their movement speed by 10% for 2 seconds.

Skill Recommendations

For beginners and even as you progress, we highly recommend using Sprint and Second Wind as your primary skills. These two skills are incredibly powerful and offer essential benefits that greatly enhance your gameplay. Sprint grants you unmatched mobility, whether you need to engage, disengage, chase down enemies, or maneuver in and out of combat. Second Wind allows you to sustain yourself without relying heavily on other healing sources. Pairing Second Wind with potions provides a significant healing advantage.

Perks

Perks in Dark and Darker are unique passive traits that can greatly enhance your Fighter. Once you reach the maximum level, you can slot up to four perks. Here are some recommended perks:

  • Weapon Mastery
  • Combo Attack
  • Projectile Resistance
  • Swift

We suggest starting with Weapon Mastery when you first begin your adventure as a Fighter. This perk grants you access to all primary and secondary weapons, providing a tremendous advantage. You can utilize a bow for ranged attacks, allowing you to safely clear rooms in the early stages. As you progress further, consider adding Combo Attack, Projectile Resistance, and Swift to your perk selection.

Spells

Currently, the Fighter class in Dark and Darker does not have access to spells. However, keep an eye out for future updates that may introduce artifacts or scrolls, potentially expanding your spell options.

Weapons

The Fighter is a weapon master, capable of wielding a wide range of weapons. Thanks to the Weapon Mastery perk, you can use every weapon available in the game. Some exclusive weapons for the Fighter include the Falchion, Halberd, Longsword, and Spear (although Rangers also have access to the Spear with their Spear Proficiency perk).

When starting out, we recommend choosing an Arming Sword and Shield or a Longsword as your melee option. For ranged combat, a bow is an excellent choice. However, feel free to experiment and choose the weapons that best suit your playstyle. Keep in mind that having both a melee and ranged option provides an advantageous and versatile playstyle.

Stat Priority

Different stats in Dark and Darker have varying properties, so we recommend prioritizing the following stats on your gear:

  • +All Attributes
  • Physical Damage Reduction
  • Movement Speed
  • Strength

+All Attributes is an essential stat as it allows you to allocate additional points to every attribute, providing significant value. Movement Speed and Strength enhance your mobility and health pool/damage, respectively. Physical Damage Reduction should be prioritized to counter the current meta, which heavily features Rangers and other Fighters.

How to Play Fighter

In this Dark and Darker Fighter Guide, we will focus on the fundamental aspects of playing as a Fighter. As a Fighter, your role is to provide melee damage, act as a frontline for your teammates, and deliver ranged pokes. Dark and Darker is an unforgiving game, featuring mechanics like friendly fire, requiring caution when swinging your melee weapon.

PvE

When facing PvE mobs during your dungeon runs, most enemies can be easily dispatched with a single or at most two well-aimed swings, particularly targeting their heads. It is crucial to strike quickly and then immediately move away to avoid unnecessary damage. You can also use your shield to block incoming attacks. Take advantage of your access to bows and use them to safely clear out mobs from a distance. Additionally, utilize Second Wind to heal yourself if necessary, and ensure you carry a few Campfires for healing purposes.

PvP

In team fights against another trio, leverage your ranged advantage by starting with bow attacks. Poking down targets from a distance sets the pace and pressure of the battle. Once you have weakened your enemies, switch to melee combat and unleash your full potential. Use Sprint to make decisive pushes into the enemy team, effectively controlling the flow of the fight. As a Fighter, you have the ability to soak damage for your team and rely on Second Wind to sustain yourself.

Solo

Playing solo requires a more cautious approach. Look for opportune moments to strike and take out opponents instantly before their teammates can react. Focus on finding favorable odds in your encounters. The versatility provided by Weapon Mastery allows you to choose a playstyle that suits your preferences. You can opt to use a bow for long-range attacks, potentially picking off opponents and applying pressure. Alternatively, engage in melee combat with a Sword and Shield, leaving opponents vulnerable to pursuit and finishing blows. Make effective use of Second Wind and Sprint to turn disadvantageous fights in your favor.

Playing as a Tank

In group play, a potent strategy for the Fighter is to adopt a full plate tank build. Equip a Longsword and choose either a ranged weapon or a Falchion & Shield. Stack Physical Damage Reduction on your plate armor to become nearly immune to Rangers and other melee characters. As the frontline, be aggressive and push forward, soaking up the initial enemy attacks. If you have a Cleric or Bard in your team, you become an unstoppable force.
