Destiny 2 New Pacific Epitaph: A Complete Guide

Wave frame grenade launchers have always been popular in Destiny 2, but they were limited to the energy slot. That all changed with the release of Ghosts of the Deep and the introduction of the New Pacific Epitaph, the first wave frame grenade launcher in the kinetic slot. In this article, we will guide you on how to obtain this weapon, discuss its effectiveness, highlight the best perks to look out for, and more. Read on to enhance your Destiny 2 experience!

How to Obtain the New Pacific Epitaph in Season 21

The New Pacific Epitaph can be obtained by completing the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon. Specifically, you have a chance to acquire this weapon during the first (Hive Ritual) and last (Simmumah Ur-Nokru) encounters. Additionally, there are two secret chests inside the dungeon that also have a chance to drop the New Pacific Epitaph if you have already obtained it from one of the encounters.

It’s worth noting that Ghosts of the Deep is farmable, meaning there is no weekly lockout. You can run the dungeon repeatedly to increase your chances of obtaining a god roll. If you’re determined to get the best version of this weapon, consider finding a group to farm either the first or final encounter.

Evaluating the New Pacific Epitaph

The New Pacific Epitaph is a wave frame grenade launcher, making it a valuable weapon for PvE activities. What sets it apart is its placement in the kinetic slot, allowing you to pair it with trace rifles and glaives for the first time. While it may lack an S-Tier perk for ad clear like Chain Reaction or Chill Clip, the fact that it occupies the kinetic slot already makes it remarkable.

In terms of PvP performance, the New Pacific Epitaph is not particularly strong. However, players don’t typically expect wave frame grenade launchers to excel in The Crucible. Therefore, its lackluster performance in PvP does not diminish its strengths as an exceptional ad clear option in the kinetic slot. For these reasons, we consider the New Pacific Epitaph to be in the A-Tier category.

Best New Pacific Epitaph Rolls for PvE and PvP

Now that you know how to obtain the New Pacific Epitaph and its overall effectiveness, let’s discuss the best perks to keep an eye out for.

New Pacific Epitaph PvE god roll

  • Barrel: Smart Drift Control
  • Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
  • Perk 1: Unrelenting (also good: Demolitionist)
  • Perk 2: Kill Clip (also good: Adrenaline Junkie)

For PvE, Smart Drift Control and High-Velocity Rounds are the recommended choices for the barrel and magazine. In the first perk column, Unrelenting and Demolitionist are top contenders, while Lead From Gold is a great option when using two special weapons. In the final perk column, Kill Clip and Adrenaline Junkie are the preferred choices, but Collective Action and Pugilist can also be effective for specific builds.

New Pacific Epitaph PvP god roll

  • Barrel: Smart Drift Control
  • Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
  • Perk 1: Shot Swap (also good: Demolitionist)
  • Perk 2: Kill Clip (also good: Pugilist)

Though the New Pacific Epitaph isn’t particularly strong in PvP, it can still be enjoyable with the right roll. For PvP, Smart Drift Control and High-Velocity Rounds are recommended. The third perk column has fewer standout options, but Shot Swap and Demolitionist are the better choices. In the final column, Kill Clip and Collective Action provide the best damage boosts.
