Destiny 2 Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack Guide: Acquiring the Gjallarhorn Exotic Rocket Launcher

The legendary Gjallarhorn has made its return in Destiny 2, and we’re here to assist you in obtaining it. This Exotic weapon, renowned among players, can be obtained through an Exotic quest called “And Out Fly The Wolves.” The quest, along with Gjallarhorn itself and its Exotic Catalyst, are all exclusive to the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack.

Out of the two Exotic additions in the pack, Gjallarhorn is the easier one to acquire. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can gather all the Wolfpack Rounds required and rebuild the mighty Gjallarhorn.

Step 1: Visit Xur in Eternity

Once you’ve completed the introductory section of the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack, head to the treasure room of Xur in Eternity. In addition to his usual inventory, you’ll find an arrow indicating a second page. Navigate there and acquire the “And Out Fly The Wolves” Exotic quest.

Now it’s time to make your way to the Cosmodrome.

Step 2: Speak with Shaw Han

Go to the Cosmodrome and have a conversation with Shaw Han, the newly introduced vendor for players. He will send you on a mission into the Grasp of Avarice dungeon.

The difficulty of this next step will depend on your fireteam or your ability to find two friends to join you.

Step 3: Complete the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon

The Grasp of Avarice dungeon offers an enjoyable experience and is relatively simpler compared to other end-game group activities.

Form a fireteam with two other Guardians, open the Eternity menu, and select the dungeon from the Director. Depending on your power level and experience, your first attempt may take anywhere between 40 minutes and a couple of hours.

Upon defeating the final boss, you’ll complete Step 3 and receive a Wolfpack Round. It’s now time to return to the Cosmodrome.

Step 4: Talk to Shaw Han Again

All you need to do at this stage is have a chat with Shaw Han. He will examine your acquired Wolfpack Round and request a few more.

Instead of leaving the Cosmodrome, turn around and head towards The Divide.

Step 5: Collect Seven Wolfpack Rounds

To progress in this quest, you must defeat formidable Fallen enemies in the Cosmodrome. While you could wander around in search of Fallen, the easiest spot to farm them is the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector in The Divide. Make your way there and run the Lost Sector until you’ve obtained all seven Wolfpack Rounds. Keep in mind that the rounds drop randomly, so multiple runs may be necessary to complete the quest.

Step 6: Talk to Shaw Han Again, Again

Bring all the obtained Wolfpack Rounds to Shaw Han. He will deliver another lengthy speech and provide you with rocket parts.

Step 7: Consult Banshee-44

Take the rocket parts and make your way to Banshee-44, the Gunsmith, located in the Tower.

This step involves a considerable amount of traveling with limited action, making it relatively easy but slightly monotonous.

Step 8: Run the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector

Banshee-44 will request that you run a specific Lost Sector. Not just any Lost Sector, but the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector that we recommended earlier.

Return to The Divide and complete the Lost Sector once more. You’re almost there!

Step 9: Assemble Gjallarhorn at Shaw’s Camp

Gather all the Gjallarhorn pieces and return to Shaw Han. Instead of engaging in conversation with the Guardian, enter his small base and locate some cabinets behind a small metal wall. Approach the cabinets and interact with them to assemble your very own rocket launcher.

Step 10: Have a Final Conversation with Shaw

Upon successfully assembling the Gjallarhorn, you still won’t be able to wield the weapon. Head back to Shaw Han and engage in one final conversation with him. After another speech, he will finally bestow upon you the Exotic rocket launcher.

Congratulations! One of the most potent tools in the hands of Guardians is now back in your possession.

What Does Gjallarhorn Do in Destiny 2?

Gjallarhorn possesses powerful perks in Destiny 2, with some variations from its original version (including the Iron Gjallarhorn).

The weapon’s intrinsic perk, “Pack Hunter,” enhances handling and reload speed when near allies. When firing the weapon with Pack Hunter active, it grants Wolfpack Rounds (Gjallarhorn’s Exotic perk) to all nearby allies who are using non-Exotic rocket launchers. This support perk is highly potent and a new feature of Gjallarhorn.

Wolfpack Rounds, Gjallarhorn’s Exotic perk, is what the weapon was renowned for in the original Destiny. Each fired rocket fragments into multiple mini rockets that swarm bosses and nearby targets.

Additionally, Gjallarhorn possesses an Exotic Catalyst obtained from the Grasp of Avarice dungeon. This catalyst introduces a new perk that increases Gjallarhorn’s magazine size to two and causes Wolfpack Round kills to spawn a mega missile.
