How to Unlock the Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon in Destiny 2

Entering the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon in Destiny 2 is not an easy feat. First, you need to pick up the Rise quest from Hawthorne at the Tower. Once you have the quest, access the dungeon through the H.E.L.M interface in the Director.

Keep in mind that diving right into the dungeon is not advisable. For the Normal difficulty, your Power level should be at least 1790, and for the Master difficulty, it should be 1840. Additionally, this dungeon is not included in any of the game’s Season Pass or content updates. Players must purchase a Lightfall Dungeon Key (2,000 Silver) to unlock this area and embark on their adventures.

Ghosts of the Deep Solo Dungeon Run

Ghosts of the Deep presents a higher level of difficulty for solo players, as the bosses require substantial damage to be defeated. We recommend using Arbalest or Leviathan’s Breath for the final two bosses if you attempt to solo the dungeon. If you’re still interested in getting a special Emblem for your collection, you can purchase our Ghosts of the Deep Solo Flawless run.

Ghosts of the Deep Master Difficulty

Ghosts of the Deep Master Difficulty provides an even greater challenge for players. The minimum recommended Power level is 1840. Come prepared with strong weapons and armor to face tougher enemies and bosses. Stay tuned for more details on the Master’s difficulty as we gather more information.

Ghosts of the Deep Tips and Tricks

This dungeon can be farmed for unlimited loot, but it requires a dedicated Fireteam and a few hours of time. Similar to the Spire of the Watcher dungeon, there are no limitations on how many times you can run it in a week.

However, there is a limit of one visit per week to farm The Dungeon Exotic per character. Here are the steps to successfully farm the Ghost of the Deep dungeon:

  1. Complete the dungeon on your main character to farm a specific encounter.
  2. After completing the encounter, intentionally wipe and ask your team to wait.
  3. Switch to another character who hasn’t done the dungeon that week and rejoin your Fireteam.
  4. Wipe again to set the checkpoint for the second character.

From there, you can repeat the encounter as many times as you want until the weekly reset. To continue obtaining loot, launch the dungeon with your second character holding the checkpoint, switch to your first character, complete the encounter, and then switch back to your second character to repeat the process.

How to Cheese in D2 Ghosts Of The Deep

Destiny 2 players continuously discover new methods to defeat bosses, and Ghosts of the Deep is no exception. Cheese in Destiny 2 Ghosts of the Deep refers to an easy way to obtain weapons and armor with minimal effort. With this strategy, you won’t run out of ammo, and there won’t be any team wipes. Follow these steps to succeed:

Bring a Friend:

To activate the cheese in Destiny 2, you must bring a fellow Guardian and allow them to take damage from the boss. Having another Guardian in Ghosts of the Deep prevents wipes, so it’s essential to find someone to cheese the dungeon with.

Loadout: Witherhoard

Obtain the Witherhoard from the Monument to Lost Lights vendor at the Tower for 1 Exotic Cipher, 100,000 Glimmer, 150 Legendary Shards, and 1 Ascendant Shard. The Witherhoard is the only weapon you need for the cheese.

To use the Witherhoard for cheese, focus on its Exotic Perks that damage enemies over time with Taken Blight projectiles. Don’t worry about the Catalyst. Follow these steps to get Witherhoard ammo:

  1. Equip two Special Ammo weapons.
  2. Keep your ammo low.
  3. Get 3 Special Ammo every 30 seconds.
  4. Low ammo reserves will grant you infinite Witherhoard ammo for continuous damage.

Speed up Damage:

Using only one Witherhoard to damage both bosses may take time, but it’s a safe way to win Ghosts of the Deep on Master difficulty and obtain loot. You can find ways to speed up damage phases.

Use a Solar Warlock or Void Titan for more damage. Build Supers by dealing passive damage. Warlocks can use Empowering Rift or Well of Radiance for a damage boost, while Void Titans can utilize Ward of Dawn for Weapons of Light.

First Boss: Ecthar, the Shield of Savathun

To defeat Ecthar, shoot him with Witherhoard and kill 4 Acolytes.

  • Shoot Ecthar with Witherhoard and die. When revived, the damage will deal damage numbers instead of “Immune.” Keep reapplying the Witherhoard damage repeatedly. If Ecthar becomes “Immune” again, die again. No need for Raid Exotics to complete this strategy.
  • During the fight, ads will appear. Ecthar is a tough boss. Kill the Acolytes and use damage-resistant mods. Avoid killing all three Blistered Knights, as it will cause Ecthar to go underwater and delay the fight.
  • Prepare to defeat the Hive ghost shell after killing Ecthar to prevent his respawn. The Witherhoard cheese in Ghosts of the Deep is a safe method to reach DPS phases for Ecthar, even with ads shooting at the player during consistent Witherhoard shots.

Second Boss: Simmumah Ur-Nokru, Lucent Necromancer

Simmumah is the final boss in Ghosts of the Deep, attempting to resurrect Oryx, the Taken King. Defeating Simmumah using the Witherhoard cheese method is relatively straightforward. Follow these steps:

  • Shoot Simmumah with the Witherhoard and avoid using a Finisher on Oryx’s Hive ghost shell. This will prevent the boss room from activating and spawning numerous ads and arc attacks from Simmumah.
  • Use the same strategy as against Ecthar, the Shield of Savathun. Shoot Simmumah with the Witherhoard, then die and keep shooting to deal damage. The boss fight won’t start, so there won’t be a health bar. You can wait for the boss to drop or use the D.A.R.C.I. sniper rifle to check its health and other information.
  • Defeating Simmumah Ur-Nokru using the Witherhoard method takes approximately 20 minutes, depending on the weapon buffs obtained through co-op plays. This method is effective and ensures the acquisition of Master or Normal Ghosts of the Deep dungeon loot. Destroying Simmumah Ur-Nokru’s Hive Ghost shell is essential to prevent the boss from respawning and wasting your time.

Pros and Cons:

You have the option to repeatedly farm the third and final encounter, despite the time it takes to kill Simmumah Ur-Nokru with the Witherhoard and complete the ritual to kill three Lucent Hive Light Bearers. While there is a risk of reaching the damage phase, the cheese method may be more efficient in terms of time and without the risk of a wipe.

Rewards:

After defeating Simmumah Ur-Nokru, you can access a chest located at Oryx’s heart, which may contain two Legendary items. In Master Difficulty, you have the chance to obtain additional materials such as Legendary Shards or Enhancement Prisms. However, the legendary loot, including weapons from Ghosts of the Deep and pieces of Artifice Armor, is the highlight of the rewards.

Completing the dungeon on Master Difficulty brings you closer to completing the Ghoul title Triumph. For the first completion on Master Difficulty, you will receive the Sovereign Triumph for the Ghoul title. Additionally, it grants the Recalcitrant Host Sparrow. Completing the cheese strategy increases the drop rate of the new Exotic Trace Rifle, The Navigator.

By farming the Ghosts of the Deep encounter using the Witherhoard cheese every 20 minutes, you can obtain 2 pieces of great loot. Aim for high stat rolls on Artifice Armor and achieve triple-100 stats with the best mods. Furthermore, you can allocate 3 levels into any stat without consuming a single mod level. Act quickly, as Bungie will likely patch this method soon.

Ghosts of the Deep — Hive Ritual Disrupted

Upon entering the dungeon, your team should follow the hidden path until reaching a ritual site. The objective of this area is to disrupt the ritual of four Hive statues by dunking Vestiges of Light into each statue.

To acquire Vestiges, eliminate Ogres and follow the green substance trail, similar to what you’ve seen in the Wrathborn Hunts of Season 17. This trail leads to a rune with a symbol. Remember this symbol to dunk the Vestige of Light into the corresponding symbol on the Hive statue. Then continue following the trail.

To progress further, defeat a Lightbearer Knight or Wizard. The player who defeats the ghost of the Lightbearer earns the Vestige of Light buff and must swiftly return to the ritual site. Defeat a yellow-bar Veil Weaver Wizard next, granting you Deepsight, which reveals the runes on the statues. Dunk the Vestige into the statue with the corresponding rune symbol.

Keep at least one player at the ritual site to deal with the Veil Weaver Wizard. This will help dispatch the Wizard faster. Repeat this process until you’ve completed disrupting the ritual and move forward to the next encounter.

Once you’re done with the statues, you will navigate through a jumping puzzle that leads you to the subsequent location.

Ghosts of the Deep — Ecthar, the Shield of Savathun

The main goal of this encounter is to defeat Ecthar.

To achieve victory over Ecthar, you need to summon a Keeper of the Deep ogre by defeating three Blistered Knights. Memorize the three symbols on the wall. Then jump into the water through small pools as fast as you can, as the boss will chase you underwater. Locate the runes on the walls and activate the symbols you saw above water. This will trigger the next phase.

While doing this, two other players should defeat the Lucent Hive enemies above water. These enemies will spawn after activating each rune symbol.

To obtain the Vestige of Light, defeat a Lucent Hive enemy and destroy their Hive Ghost. Dunk the Vestige into a Hive statue twice. Quickly eliminate the spawned Wellkeeper Knight and take its place to lower the boss’s shield. Attack Ecthar with full power once the shield is depleted. Repeat this process until the boss is defeated.

Following that, you’ll need to navigate through the second jumping puzzle to reach the final chamber.

Ghosts of the Deep — Simmumah ur-Nokru

This time, adventurers will face Simmumah Ur-Nokru, a menacing Lucent Necromancer, in the main room of Ghosts of the Deep. Throughout the encounter, you will also enter other rooms connected by waterways where you’ll find scattered body parts of Oryx in the necromancer’s attempt to resurrect the fallen god. Halt the boss’s evil plan before it’s too late!

Activating Deepsight will reveal the targeted parts of Oryx to trigger the damage phase. To damage the appearing Knights, stand within the green circles.

Small green circles will appear one at a time. Align these circles with the small Oryx symbol visible through them. Repeat this process three times to activate the runes above each point on the triangle.

Following this, the fireteam should spread out across different sides of the room.

To obtain the Vestige, defeat the Lucent Hive and find the symbol above their Ghost.

Afterward, return to the main room, activate Deepsight, and place the Vestige in the corresponding rune symbol.

Stand in the marked areas to damage the boss’s shields. Once the shields are down, you no longer need to stand in the marked areas to deal damage.

Depleting Simmumah’s health bar may require several attempts as the boss teleports between Oryx’s body parts. We recommend using Leviathan’s Breath, a powerful weapon that can inflict significant damage in this dungeon.

Congratulations, brave Guardian! You have successfully conquered the treacherous depths of the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon.

Ghosts of the Deep Secret Chests Locations

There are two secret chests in Ghosts of the Deep. Here are their locations:

  1. Between the first and second encounters:

    • Complete the turbine section and descend to the ocean sand.
    • Follow the path to the second encounter.
    • Enter the first cave and proceed forward, then turn back.
    • Look for a ravine on the right, where the first chest can be found.
  2. Between the second and third encounters:

    • After defeating the ogre boss, ascend the building beneath it.
    • At the highest point, you will locate the second chest.

Now you’re fully equipped to dive into this dungeon. Our Ghosts of the Deep Boosting services provide an easy way to quickly obtain a specific god roll or desired loot without the need for extensive farming.
