How to Obtain Arclight in Old School RuneScape

Old School RuneScape (OSRS) players often find themselves engaged in battles against demonic foes. The game features a diverse range of enemies falling under this demonic classification. Generally, any adversary with the word “demon” in its name is considered demonic. However, there are also entities without the “demon” label that still possess demonic characteristics, such as bloodvelds. Among the many Slayer tasks assigned, bloodvelds seem to appear most frequently.

Luckily, Slayer tasks like these can be expedited with the use of demonbane weapons, with the most notable one being Arclight. As an avid OSRS player looking to improve combat and Slayer skills, it is crucial to understand how to acquire Arclight in the game.

Quest 1: Demon Slayer

Obtaining Arclight is a relatively straightforward process compared to other items and weapons with similar functionality. All it takes is completing a few quests. The first quest you need to conquer is “Demon Slayer.” This quest revolves around the legendary sword known as Silverlight and its role in saving the city of Varrock from a demon invasion. It’s an essential quest for beginners and rewards you with the revered Silverlight weapon.

To initiate the “Demon Slayer” quest, seek out Gypsy Aris in her tent near Varrock Square. While the quest itself is relatively simple, I highly recommend utilizing the RuneLite client. This client provides the convenience of downloading the “Quest Helper” plugin from its plugin hub. Quest Helper assists you by highlighting necessary items, NPCs to interact with, and objects you need to engage with. Essentially, Quest Helper streamlines the questing process, leaving you free to focus on other aspects of the game.

Quest 2: Shadow of the Storm

Once you’ve completed the “Demon Slayer” quest, the next step is to embark on the “Shadow of the Storm” quest. This quest represents a more advanced continuation of the storyline but remains relatively easy to navigate, with familiar characters making appearances.

To initiate the “Shadow of the Storm” quest, you must have previously completed “Demon Slayer,” another quest called “The Golem,” and possess a Crafting skill level of at least 30. Seek out Father Reen, located just south of the bank in Al Kharid, to begin this quest. While in Al Kharid, it may also be worthwhile to explore the world of gem cutting.

Upon completing the “Shadow of the Storm” quest, Silverlight becomes tainted with demon blood and transforms into a formidable weapon known as Darklight.

Creating Arclight

Now comes the task of upgrading Darklight to Arclight. Unlike the previous quests, this process does not require embarking on a new quest but instead involves a simple action. The first step is learning how to access the Catacombs in OSRS. Once familiar with the Catacombs, venture forth and slay monsters until you possess three or more ancient shards.

With a minimum of three ancient shards in your inventory, proceed to the center of the Catacombs, precisely where you initially entered beneath the statue in the Kourend Castle courtyard. Here, use Darklight on the altar directly in front of you.

This action seamlessly merges Darklight with the ancient shards, transforming them into the formidable Arclight. Do keep in mind that Arclight is a charged weapon, starting with 1,000 charges. To recharge it, simply gather more ancient shards. With three ancient shards, you can recharge Arclight with an additional 1,000 charges, up to a maximum of 10,000 charges.

Final Thoughts

The path to obtaining Arclight in OSRS involves several straightforward steps. Begin by completing the “Demon Slayer” quest in Varrock to obtain Silverlight. Afterwards, meet the necessary requirements and embark on the subsequent quest, “Shadow of the Storm.”

Once both quests are accomplished, bring Darklight and at least three ancient shards to the altar located in Kourend’s Catacombs. Utilize Darklight on the altar, and behold the creation of the powerful Arclight.
