Destiny 2 The Chaperone Quest: A Guide to Obtaining the Exotic Shotgun in Beyond Light
Destiny 2 players are well acquainted with The Chaperone, an Exotic Shotgun that was first introduced in the Forsaken expansion. However, with the release of Beyond Light, things have changed. If you want to acquire The Chaperone in the latest expansion, you’ll need to follow a new exotic quest with different steps and a new way to access it. Keep in mind that you must own Beyond Light to embark on this quest.
Unlike most Exotic quests, acquiring The Chaperone doesn’t require a lot of time-consuming steps. This is certainly a good thing for those eager to get their hands on this powerful weapon.
How to Get Destiny 2 The Chaperone: Quick Guide
To start your journey towards obtaining The Chaperone, you’ll need to complete the following steps:
- Defeat 100 combatants.
- Defeat combatants with your Super and abilities.
- Speak with Amanda Holliday in the Tower.
- Defeat combatants and complete public events on Europa.
- Defeat targets with precision damage and defeat targets with Shotguns in Gambit or Crucible.
- Speak with Amanda Holliday.
How to Start The Chaperone Quest
Before diving into the quest, remember that owning the Beyond Light expansion is a prerequisite. To begin the Chaperone quest, head to the Cosmodrome and speak to Shaw Han. He will have the exotic quest “Blast from the Past” in his inventory for you to pick up.
Alternatively, you can find the quest in the Quest Archive at the Tower. Navigate to the Exotics section, and you might spot it there as well.
Step 1: Research Assistant
The first step is relatively straightforward. You need to kill 100 enemies to progress. The more powerful the enemy, the more progress you’ll make. Luckily, you can accomplish this step anywhere in the game, so choose your preferred activity and complete it quickly.
Step 2: Optics
Once you’ve defeated the necessary enemies for Step 1, it’s time to kill some more enemies. However, this time, you must use your Super and abilities. Your Supers will grant the most progress, so equip a Super that excels at clearing out large numbers of enemies. As with the previous step, you can complete this one anywhere in the game. When you’re done, speak to Shaw Han and proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Speak With Amanda Holliday
For Step 3, head to the Tower and speak with Amanda Holliday. You will need to interact with her multiple times. If you’re a New Light player, keep in mind that you must also complete the starter mission “A Guardian Rises” between interactions with Amanda Holliday.
Step 4: Any Way You Ice It
After speaking with Amanda Holliday at the Tower, she will instruct you to travel to Europa. Once there, you must defeat 100 enemy combatants and complete three public events.
Step 5: True Test
Upon completing the Europa step, return to Amanda in the Tower. She will present you with one final challenge. This time, you must defeat 150 enemies with precision damage and 100 enemies with Shotguns in either Gambit or Crucible. While defeating guardians grants the most efficient progress, if you prefer not to play Crucible, you can quickly complete this step in Gambit as well.
Step 6: Heirloom
For the final step, return to the Tower and speak with Amanda Holliday once again. As you hand in the completed quest, Amanda will reward you with The Chaperone Exotic Shotgun.
