Why Lost Ark MVP Titles may not reflect the true raid experience

Raids in Lost Ark are the ultimate test of skill and teamwork, as players join forces to conquer powerful foes and colossal creatures. Once the raid is cleared, the game showcases an MVP titles board that highlights exceptional performances during the encounter.

A single player is awarded the MVP title, accompanied by their portrait being displayed prominently for all to see. This accolade can be seen as a measure of the effort and dedication put into leveling up the character. However, it’s important to note that the MVP title doesn’t always paint the full picture.

In this guide, we will explore why not receiving the MVP title shouldn’t be disheartening. By understanding the intricacies of the MVP system, it becomes clear that the player awarded MVP may not necessarily be the most valuable contributor during the raid.

Several factors are taken into account when determining the MVP title, including Party Defense, Solo Defense, and Battle Item Contribution. Each factor is assigned a score based on the character’s performance in that particular category. The character with the highest combined score is then declared the MVP. However, relying solely on this information can be misleading.

Let’s consider a hypothetical scenario:

  • Sorceress (MVP)
  • Upright Fighter (31%)
  • Cruel Annihilator (32%)
  • Scrapper Fighter
  • Bard Annihilator
  • Gunslinger Annihilator

At first glance, one might assume that the Gunslinger didn’t contribute much. However, upon closer examination, the truth is quite the opposite. By deducing certain information, we can uncover the truth. For instance, since the Scrapper is labeled as the “Fighter,” we can infer that they likely dealt around 20-30% of the total damage. On the other hand, Bards typically contribute no more than five percent of the total damage in raids. Therefore, it’s reasonable to conclude that the Gunslinger player dealt a significant portion, probably around 39-49% of the team’s damage.

The question arises: if the Gunslinger dealt approximately 40% of the team’s damage, why weren’t they awarded the “Cruel Fighter” title instead of “Annihilator”? The answer lies in the order in which player characters are listed on the MVP screen.

Titles are assigned to players from top to bottom, following a rule that only one character can share a title with the MVP. Therefore, when the Scrapper, positioned at the top of the list, claims the “Fighter” category, the rest of the party is no longer eligible for recognition in that category.

Had the Gunslinger been listed above the Scrapper, they would have received the “Cruel Fighter” title. Unfortunately, due to the predetermined order, the Gunslinger is left with other categories to choose from.

The MVP system aims to acknowledge the player who performed the best overall. However, it doesn’t consider varying weights for different categories. For example, healing, which is limited to specific classes, is treated equally to total damage dealt. Instead of solely relying on the MVP system to evaluate your contribution, it’s advisable to interpret the information yourself. You will often find satisfaction in realizing your outstanding support in helping your team achieve victory.

In conclusion, the MVP titles in Lost Ark may not always reflect the true raid experience. By understanding the intricacies of the MVP system, players can accurately assess their contributions and appreciate their invaluable role in the team’s success.
