Immersive RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE REMATCH Set to Open in September 2023

Experience the Epic Rumble in the Jungle and Zaire ’74 Festival in a Remarkable Theatrical Show

Fusing the art of theater, the thrill of sports, and the power of technology, Rumble in the Jungle Rematch is gearing up for its grand opening in London this September. This extraordinary immersive experience will transport audiences back in time to two iconic and never-before-seen moments in history: the legendary Rumble in the Jungle and the Zaire ’74 festival.

By engaging all five senses, the Rumble in the Jungle show will come to life with a talented cast of actors, live music, and authentic food and drinks that will recreate the smells and tastes of that era. From Muhammad Ali’s memorable pre-fight trash talking to the dramatic play-by-play of the legendary rope-a-dope technique, Rumble in the Jungle promises to take audiences on a captivating journey through The Greatest Sporting Event of the 20th Century.

Located in the heart of London at Dock X, this highly anticipated second production by Rematch will reimagine the historic Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman boxing match, nearly 50 years later. This immersive experience will unveil the untold stories behind the Rumble in the Jungle, igniting the imagination and captivating audiences like never before.

The creative team behind Rematch is nothing short of extraordinary. With Secret Cinema’s Miguel H Torres as the Creative Director and Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu, known for his two-time Olivier nominated play “For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When the Hue Gets Too Heavy,” as the Writer, expect an unforgettable theatrical experience. Femi Temowo, the acclaimed composer and critically acclaimed jazz guitarist who has worked with renowned artists like Amy Winehouse and George Benson, will take on the role of Music Director, delivering an exceptional musical journey.

In collaboration with Authentic Brands Group (ABG) and Muhammad Ali Enterprises, Rematch aims to capture every aspect of the story, tracing the footsteps of both Ali and Foreman. The immersive experience will start with the media frenzy that surrounded the fight, leading up to the historic bout where Ali, the underdog, fought for the world heavyweight title.

Bringing the vibrant sounds of the Zaire ’74 music festival to life, audiences can expect sensational performances by some of the biggest names in black music, including James Brown, BB King, Bill Withers, Sister Sledge, and a plethora of talented musicians from Africa and Latin America.

In anticipation of the physical event, Rematch will introduce LockerRoom, a digital experience in the Web3 realm. Through collaboration with StoryFutures, Rematch will bring the Rumble in the Jungle to selected libraries across the UK, including Sheffield, Bristol, Swindon, Lambeth, Swansea, and more. LockerRoom offers a taste of what to expect at Rumble in the Jungle Rematch, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in an exhilarating VR experience, stepping into the shoes of Ali before the fight.

Following the success of “Wimbledon Rematch 1980” in 2019, Rumble in the Jungle Rematch is set to be Rematch’s longest and most immersive experience to date. Tickets are now on sale for the September 2023 show, inviting everyone to be part of this incredible spectacle that brings iconic historical moments to life in a contemporary setting.

Rematch has collaborated closely with Authentic Brands Group (ABG) and Muhammad Ali Enterprises, spearheaded by Lonnie Ali, trustee of the Muhammad Ali Family Trust (MAFT). Together, they have crafted a show that pays homage to the legendary Ali and his remarkable legacy.
